It is Day 8 in Kingston, Jamaica and we are still under a state of emergency. Christopher Coke is still at large. Late yesterday evening up until 6am this morning the corporate area was under a curfew. The biggest development in news is coming from a leading attorney in the UK Hannah Harris Barrington. The Time Online out of the UK is reporting that the attorney has been in dialog with Coke about accepting political asylum in the UK. \

I discussed this issue that Jamaica is facing with a friend of mine who expressed disgust over the recent developments. He mentioned some slanderous statements which could be at the root of this extradition matter. The report from the Time Online mentioned that Coke is ready to turn himself in and reveal the secrets of Jamaican politics. Some believe this is the real story behind Coke. He has many secrets on the operations in Jamaica. Coke’s dather was killed the night before he should have been extradited to the US. Coke believes he will be killed by the Jamaican security forces if they find him.

Tivoli Operation

The Jamaica Gleaner had an extensive report on the Tivoli Gardens operation in the newspaper today. The paper mentioned that before the operation began Coke received help from other gangs in Jamaica to protect him. It is alleged that Coke paid these gangs in excess of $100,000 JMD per day to protect him. It was after these gang members were in place that Coke made his escape from Tivoli Gardens leaving these contracted men to fight the police. Last week it was reported that the police force found home made bombs in the Western Kingston community. A top source revealed that the Tivoli Gardens gang received assistance from former members of the police force in building these weapons. It was believed by many that they recieved help from outside Jamaica but these claims have refuted that.

Is this the end of Bruce Golding?

Bruce Golding

Many are concluding that this is the end of Bruce Golding. I am a firm believer that politics is all about image and perception. Bruce Golding is in a prime position to change the future of Jamaica. I attended an election campaign in Mandeville, Manchester where Golding gave a presentation. That optimism is not present today but it can return in his favor. He (Golding) will have to throw his full support behind eradicating the gang culture and garrison communities.

Can he do it? Yes.

Will he do it? Let’s wait and see.

If there is anyone to take us through this process is Bruce Golding.
