I AM Jamaica Campaign

Posted by Corve DaCosta On July 24, 2010 10 COMMENTS
We are proud of our culture, our heritage and it is time Jamaicans stand up as one.
A new campaign called I am Jamaica has been launched by the Jamaican Diaspora. The campaign calls on Jamaicans at home and in the Diaspora to encourage a sense of personal responsibility for each other and to inspire each other in embracing our talents and resources as a burgeoning global community, for the upliftment and prosperity of our youth, and to evoke an emotional connection of hope, positive vibes, prosperity, oneness, and all other core qualities of Brand Jamaica among Jamaicans worldwide. The campaign encourages Jamaicans to elevate their level of communication and collaboration in addressing issues of national interest. The campaign also confronts the need for law and order in the society and implores a sense of personal accountability for re-socializing the mindset of the nation, at home and abroad. The campaign recognizes that the actions or behavior of all Jamaicans, wherever they reside, has a profound impact on Jamaica’s brand and national interests.
I am Jamaica – The Jamaican Diaspora Theme Song

I really love the theme song. Itadvocates Jamaicans to believe in themselves proclaiming the words I am Jamaica. I believe this is a timely campaign in retrospect of what Jamaica has been through recently. As a country we are trying to turn the pages and I hope this campaign can help our people to be confident again, to believe we can be the best. Jamaicans are all over the world but those predominantly in the USA, UK, and Canada will be exposed to the campaign. The I am Jamaica initiative will be rolled out on radio stations in these countries. I was fortunate to hear one of the interviews on WDNA 88.9FM in Miami.

  2. I did not realize that you reach out to the diaspora. I have a Jamaican friend in the Middle East, moving back there after four years in Lithuania. I will let her know about your blog.
BTW, I want to let you and other followers know that my Blest Atheist blogspot went down. I replaced it with 100th Lamb (www.emahlou.blogspot.com). I explain why there.

Corve – the voice of our generation is going to be a huge catalyst for where we will end up in the next 20-30 years for sure.  I’m glad that your sleeves are rolled up and you are doing your part with style and grace.  Proud of your efforts.
