There are numerous benefits for having social media accounts especially in today’s technology driven world. It connects you with an audience you wouldn’t normally have access to. That is exactly what happened with the promotion of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) Your Money eZine Business Summit 2010 which was held on July 28, 2010 at the Mona Visitor’s Lodge. Gathering like minded entrepreneurs with two widely acclaimed Jamaican businessmen to discuss the theme “Entrepreneurship – the new wave?” The presenters were Michael Campbell, Chairman and Managing Director of Island Car Rentals Limited and Chris Williams, President and CEO of PROVEN Investments Limited.
The evening was hosted by Tyrone Wilson, CEO and Andre Burnett who interviewed the gentlemen and led the discussion. The summit was a tremendous success with both astute professionals sharing tips on their journey and how to be successful in business. With a pen and paper in hand, here are the notes from each speaker. We begin with Chris Williams of Proven Investments Limited.

Tyrone Wilson revealed that the event was promoted primarily on new media including social networking websites like Twitter and Facebook. The product, however, has the potential to become a brand which looks promising. In addition to the presentations there were booths set up with participating companies showcasing their products and services to the guests. Some of the business participants included: National Commercial Bank, Pan Caribbean, Sagicor, 3M, Intelligent Multimedia, Good as New, Business Lad, CoreTalk, Command etc.

Outstanding article, Corve. BTW, what’s the longest you’ve ever had one template:-)
There is one addition I would make to that list: Be very weary of using either friends or family in your business. Too many times friendships go down the drain, or families divide, over business dealings. Unless you know one or the other so well there is no chance of fallout, hire outsiders . . . always.
