when will jamaicans embrace our culture and own every bit of it, including our patois? when will jamaicans stop seeing events likes these (for example the volkswagen commercials) as people overseas exploiting the jamaican brand/culture?
the jamaican culture is known for it’s easy, free and happy, everything all right mon moments we only think tourists should enjoy. as a commercial junkie, i was delighted to watch the volkswagen commercials for the super bowl, one featuring our own jimmy cliff.
the commercials will be timetabled in the super bowl 2013, which is prime time for companies. each slot is worth $4million USD – lives and careers are on the line here. we look forward to the other smart commercials which will be released. the volkswagen brand has titled the campaign get happy, and if you aren’t happy or in a better place after watching one of these commercials, get yourself checked out.
